SAP supports World Bicycle Relief (WBR) efforts
WBR & SAP ride together to help young people in Africa
SAP, one of the market leaders in company software and software services, is supporting World Bicycle Relief via their Cycle 4 Youth Program. From July 5th to July 9th, SAP employees will have the opportunity to cycle from the different European company locations (Brussels, London, Milan, Munich and Paris) to Walldorf-Germany, the global headquarters, and raise funds for charity. At this point, over 100 cyclists have signed up and will ride section of the 2.700km (total distance between the different cities and Walldorf).
SAP will donate 1€/ kilometre. This year they have chosen two charity organizations: Junior Achievement and World Bicycle Relief (WBR). Both organizations help young people through providing access to education with dedicated programs.
After only six years, World Bicycle Relief, which helps people in Africa through The Power of Bicycles, has already provided 137.075 bikes to children, health care workers and entrepreneurs.
Compared to walking, bicycles improve access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity by increasing carrying capacity and accessible travel distance while decreasing the time it takes to commute to and from schools, clinics and markets.
“We are proud to get the support of such important organization. SAP Cycle 4 Youth program both encourages people to use bikes to commute and for sport and it also aims to help people in need... ” said Kristina Jasiunaite, World Bicycles Relief European Managing Director.
